Over the decades, CRC-Evans has worked on many types of pipeline projects. This experience means we’ve developed solutions for virtually every conceivable bending challenge. In fact, we offer a wide range of bending machines capable of bending pipe from 6’’ to 60’’ (152mm to 1524mm).

Centurion Bending Machines

A high-performance bending machine, Centurion is built to take on today’s heavy wall and high yield pipe, as well as standard pipe where high productivity is required. Centurion delivers 80% more travel speed and 33% more bending force than standard machines.

Models are available in pipe sizes ranging from 6’’ to 20” (152mm to 508mm), 16” to 30” (406mm to 762mm) and 22” to 36’’(558mm to 914mm).

High Productivity Bending

This system combines our high-performance Centurion bending machine, TruBend angle measurement instrument and our Self-Leveling Pneumatic Wedge Mandrel to dramatically boost bending speed and productivity.

CRC-Evans offers one of the most complete range of pipe bending equipment, which in turn gives you one of the most complete range of options for optimizing the efficiency, productivity and cost effectiveness of every bending project.

Bending Sets and Dies

These allow the bending machine to work with specific pipe sizes over a wide range of diameters. They are available bare or polyurethane-lined to accommodate coated pipes.

TruBend

This wireless angle-measurement instrument allows bending machine operators to easily and continually monitor the bending process for all pipe sizes with accuracy to 0.1 degree. Time is saved, safety is increased and quality of the bend is assured.

Available for all pipe sizes. Also available with a computer recorder.

  Bending Mandrels
Bending mandrels support pipe internally during bending to prevent buckling and distortion. They are especially critical when bending thin-wall, ultra high-strength pipe. We offer three  types of mandrels:

Pneumatic Wedge Mandrel (PWM). The Pneumatic Wedge Type Mandrel was developed specifically to meet the bending requirements of heavy wall and high yield grade pipe. It applies powerful radial support to the inner walls, yet remains flexible lengthwise to bend with the pipe. Simple design and few parts result in low maintenance cost. A "Powered" PWM travels through the pipe for the next bend under its own power. A "Non-Powered" PWM is pulled to the next bend (manually). The travel wheels are pivotally mounted to provide self-leveling of the mandrel in the pipe. Double angle hardened steel wedges provide fast approach and powerful locking action. Wedges will accommodate several wall thicknesses without changing shims.

Non-Powered Units for pipe sizes from 10” to 20”
(254 mm to 508 mm)

Powered Units for pipe sizes from 20” to 36”
(508 mm to 914 mm)

Hydraulic Wedge Mandrel (HWM). The Hydraulic Wedge Type Mandrel was developed specifically to meet the bending requirements of heavy wall and high yield grade pipe. It is particularly successful in providing a smooth bend with no "out-of-round". Simple design and few parts result in low maintenance cost. The travel wheels are pivotally mounted to provide self-leveling of the mandrel in the pipe. Double angle hardened steel wedges provide fast approach and powerful locking action. Wedges will accommodate several wall thicknesses without changing shims.

The Advantage - Hydraulic Wedge Mandrel. The Hydraulic Wedge Mandrel was developed specifically to meet the requirements of bending X65, X70, and pipe. The HWM-D diesel engine powered model has been introduced to satisfy the requirements of rapid rate construction of large diameter pipelines while being self-propelled.

This diesel engine powered range of mandrels (HWM-D) has all the characteristics of the standard (HWM) hydraulic wedge mandrel powered by an external hydraulic source plus the advantages shown below.

An air cooled diesel engine is integral with the mandrel. A separate power source or power take-off is not required.

The hot and heavy hoses previously required to provide power to the mandrel have been eliminated.

Bending throughput is improved if the mandrel can be located at the appropriate location inside the pipe precisely and quickly. Manpower requirements can be reduced if the mandrel can respond to commands from the Mandrel Control Box. The system to accomplish this consists of two electronic modules. One mounted on the Advantage Hydraulic Wedge Mandrel for usage inside the pipe (called the mandrel unit or MU) and another mounted on the Pipe Bending Machine for usage outside of the pipe (called the bender unit or BU). Precise location is achieved by means of a magnetic field signaling/sensing technique using a radio frequency (RF) link.

The flexibility, ease of handling and quick response of the diesel powered mandrel (HWM-D) has been shown, when compared to a standard hydraulic wedge mandrel (HWM), to have a daily bend production advantage as great as 20 percent.

Diesel engine - air cooled 45 horsepower (34kW).

A simple conversion kit is available at extra cost to convert from the smaller to the larger pipe within the model range.
